Ke Huy Quan's story begins with his childhood in Vietnam and his family's difficult journey to safety before eventually settling in Los Angeles. As a young immigrant, he never expected that an open casting call would completely change the direction of his life.

At just twelve years old, Quan was cast as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. He later became Data in The Goonies, quickly becoming one of the most recognizable young actors of the 1980s.

Behind the excitement of childhood stardom were experiences that would shape Quan for decades. As he grew older, acting opportunities became increasingly difficult to find, eventually leading him away from the spotlight.

Rather than abandoning filmmaking, Quan explored other paths within the industry. He studied at USC's School of Cinematic Arts and worked behind the scenes, including roles as an assistant director and action choreographer.

Years passed before Quan returned to acting. At age 49, he took on the role of Waymond Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once, a performance that brought him back into the spotlight and ultimately earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

In Never Say Die, Quan revisits both the joyful and painful chapters of his life, including rejection, uncertainty, identity, family, friendship, and the long road back to Hollywood.

The memoir also shares memorable experiences from his early career, including working with Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and the cast of The Goonies.

Ultimately, Never Say Die is a story about perseverance and the willingness to keep pursuing a dream even when the path forward seems impossible. It offers a personal look at the experiences that shaped one of Hollywood's most unexpected comeback stories.
